Property owners face a deluge of worry when trying to protect their investment. From fires to lightning strikes to vandalism, owners and risk managers have to consider various methods to help mitigate these hazards. Water damage is one such hazard that tends to keep many risk managers up at night. The resulting damage from sudden water intrusion can range from soggy ceiling tiles that can be replaced for a few hundred dollars to the destruction of sheetrock walls, electrical equipment, and office furniture that can cost tens of thousands of dollars to restore. The Polar Vortex of 2014 cost almost $2 billion in losses stemming from water damage due to burst pipes, not to mention the additional $3 billion in losses to the economy due to closed businesses.

PHLY has resources that can help manage this risk. An example is the HEAT program; a simple strategy organizations can follow to prepare for the possibility of a pipe freeze. But pipe bursts are not only caused by freezing temperatures, pipes can burst due to age. Water from severe storms such as hurricanes can also damage a building.

Imagine if you could constantly monitor property conditions, such as temperature or the presence of moisture, and be alerted of a problem in real-time, providing the opportunity to take action. The PHLYSense System is a monitoring tool that uses a sensor to provide immediate alerts.
