Agribusiness Coverage Built for Wineries, Nurseries, and Niche Operators

America’s 1.9 million farms depend on a supply chain of feed manufacturers, grain and hay dealers, packers, nurseries, and others who face hard-to-predict risks such as farm vehicle theft, weather-related property damage, and business interruptions.

Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY) has built a flexible agribusiness insurance program around the many niches that fuel American agriculture. By combining deep underwriting expertise with risk management tools such as PHLYTRAC, we help agents work confidently with commercial farm insurance clients as they mitigate risk and grow their businesses.

The PHLY Difference: Niche Agribusiness Expertise

PHLY’s agribusiness insurance program goes beyond our Farmowners Insurance policy to anticipate unique exposures in specific targeted commercial classes. We write for a broad array of niche operators, including wholesale and retail nurseries, feedlots, hay and grain dealers, sod operations, grain storage operations under 1.5 million bushels, wineries (outside of California), and agricultural supply stores.

Our General Liability and Property policies cover a range of claims that might arise in these classes, including personal-injury claims brought by third parties and damage to commercial buildings and infrastructure. As a member of Tokio Marine Group, one of the largest global insurance groups in the world, PHLY partners with sister companies such as ProAg, which offers crop insurance as weather becomes more unpredictable.

Agribusiness Risk Management Meets PHLY’s Flexible Coverage

As with every PHLY program, our specialized knowledge is backed by proactive risk management tools. Through our PHLYTRAC vehicle telematics program, eligible commercial agribusiness fleets get GPS monitoring and driver behavior alerts at no additional cost. Our PHLYSENSE water and temperature sensors help detect property threats, such as leaks, before they become full-blown problems. PHLY also offers safety program development, site surveys, and training.

PHLY’s Agribusiness Insurance Program highlights include:

  • Comprehensive General Liability coverage with limits to $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate

  • Seed E&O options and Employee Benefits coverage available

  • GL Deluxe enhancement form included at no additional charge, broadening coverage for additional insureds

  • Broad, proprietary UltimateCover base coverage form

  • Umbrella Liability limits available up to $5M
