Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY) has been named a Platinum Employer in the 2026 Where You Work Matters list.

The list, created by the Burning Glass Institute and the Schultz Family Foundation in partnership with the Harvard Business School Project on Managing the Future of Work, is an independent, objective assessment of how well the largest U.S. employers are creating high-quality jobs. It does not rely upon data provided by companies but instead is based on observed employee outcomes. The list recognizes “workplaces that provide the best earnings potential and professional growth,” according to the Wall Street Journal.

The list observed 12 million American workers in 55,000 roles across 1,750 employers. Of the nearly two-thousand employers considered in the study, PHLY was recognized as one of the top 22, earning platinum badges for all three categories: Early Career Jobs, Growth Jobs, and Stability Jobs.

“Early Career Jobs” are positions open to entry-level workers that provide skills and training for career advancement. “Growth Jobs” are positions that provide opportunity for promotion, favoring programs that develop leaders internally. “Stability Jobs” are solid, long-term roles that provide above-average pay and retention.

“Being named a Platinum Employer on the Where You Work Matters List is a direct reflection of our people and the culture they bring to life every day,” said John Glomb, President and CEO of Philadelphia Insurance Companies. “This recognition comes from a shared belief that every individual at every level can make a meaningful difference—through their work, their collaboration, and their commitment to our customers, business partners, and one another. Together, we continue to build on decades of industry-leading results by always challenging ourselves to do better and create greater opportunity for our teams.”

Our platinum badge in all three categories marks us as one of the U.S.’s best employers – although it is not the first accolade PHLY has earned for its employment practices.

We have been nationally recognized as a member of Ward’s Top 50 since 2001, Business Insurance’s Best Places to Work in Insurance since 2010, a Top Workplace in Philadelphia by the Philadelphia Inquirer for 16 consecutive years, and ranked four times as one of America’s Best Midsize Employers by Forbes.

The “Where You Work Matters” list is an especially valuable recognition, and the study comes at an important time for job hunters. As explained by Where You Work Matters, “As AI advancements and economic pressures impact the labor market, the List reveals the companies that are doing best at building and retaining talent—a key advantage at a time when external hiring ebbs.”

HR Brew considers this list the “new yardstick” for HR professionals seeking to provide quality jobs, while Fast Company compares earning a top-ranking spot on the list to a restaurant earning a Michelin Star.

Rajiv Chandrasekaran, Managing Director of the Schultz Family Foundation, explained to Yahoo Finance, “This is unlike any other “Great Place to Work”/”Great Job” list in America. What we do that is so unique is we vacuum up millions upon millions of data points about workers. We look at what has really happened to them over the last several years – not what companies say they’re doing, but how their workers really faired.” The objectivity of the list gives it further credence.

We are honored to be recognized and seek to continue providing fulfilling careers across departments at all levels. To learn more about careers at PHLY and view our current openings, please visit www.phly.com/careers.
