Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY) has been recognized on the Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia list as one of the top 50 most community-minded companies in the Greater Philadelphia region. This is the second time we made the list after first winning in 2023 (did not apply in 2024).

Civic 50 evaluated candidates based on the work they delivered in 2025 in three specific criteria: promoting inclusive hiring and retention practices, a strong company culture of giving and volunteerism, and impactful corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts. While we’re always working towards improvement in these three categories, we’re proud to have been recognized for our 2025 civic engagement.

PHLY is a nationwide carrier and leading insurer for non-profit organizations, and our support goes beyond our policies.

Creating Pathways to the Insurance Industry

PHLY is committed to creating opportunities for people to explore and build careers in the insurance industry through internship and scholarship opportunities.

Our relationship with Gallaudet University creates paid internship opportunities for deaf and hard-of-hearing college students interested in the insurance industry. We also offer internships through Mercy Career & Technical High School to introduce students to insurance careers and help them gain practical experience before entering the workforce.

PHLY contributes to several scholarships. One scholarship administered by the Spencer Educational Foundation is awarded each year to an undergraduate pursuing a career in insurance. In addition, the company supports Saint Joseph’s University’s Insure the Future scholarship.

Together, these internship and scholarship opportunities help create welcoming pathways into the insurance industry and give students valuable experience and support as they prepare for their careers.

A Culture of Giving

PHLY encourages employees to contribute the causes they care about through both financial giving and hands-on volunteerism.

Through our employee gift-matching program, PHLY matches charitable donations up to $2,500 per employee annually to qualified nonprofit organizations, helping employees amplify the impact of their personal philanthropy.

PHLY also empowers employees to give back through Volunteer Time-Off (VTO). All employees, including interns, receive one paid day per year to participate in volunteer activities during the workday, whether through company-sponsored initiatives or community organizations of their choice.

In 2025, PHLY expanded this benefit by adding an additional paid VTO day for employees contributing to disaster relief efforts.

By providing both funding and dedicated time to serve, PHLY makes community involvement an integral part of its culture and encourages employees to make a meaningful impact in the communities where they live and work.

Making an Impact

Our TEAMPHLY initiatives address critical community needs while creating opportunities for employees to volunteer.

TEAMPHLY has proudly supported CHOP for two decades by participating in the Parkway Run & Walk. Every September, we come together with thousands on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia, to make a difference for children battling cancer. Our employees organized a series of office-wide fundraisers leading up to this event and helped raise $125,000 in 2025 to benefit the Cancer Center at CHOP.

How We’re Partnering with CHOP

PHLY’s CHOP partnership expanded in 2026 with the inaugural I ❤️ CHOP Run, Walk & Virtual Challenge. Five hundred PHLY employees joined football superstar Saquon Barkley, incredible CHOP patient ambassadors, and thousands of everyday fundraisers to raise more than $1.7 million for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. TEAMPHLY proudly contributed $200,000 as the Presenting Sponsor.

Meanwhile, employees contributed dozens of volunteer hours to planting and caring for trees as part of the PHLY250Sakura initiative. For this initiative, PHLY planted 250 cherry trees throughout Philadelphia in advance of America's 250th anniversary in partnership with the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation. You can now visit these trees in Fairmount Park, where they will provide beautiful blooms for decades to come.

Through our partnership with Shoes That Fit, employees helped provide new athletic shoes to students in need. The initiative, which began as an idea developed through PHLY's Summer Associate Program, has grown into a multi-city effort. In Philadelphia, PHLY teamed up with the Philadelphia Union to provide sneakers, career exploration opportunities, and mentorship to local student athletes.

Our Commitment to Continued Community Service

Those named on the Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia list are recognized as leaders in civic engagement. PHLY strives to raise the bar by expanding access to careers in insurance, empowering employee giving and service, and championing broader initiatives.

As we celebrate this Civic 50 recognition, we remain committed to serving the communities where we live and work.
