Mr. Jamie Maguire currently serves as Executive Chairman of Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY). He began his career in insurance as a broker and underwriter of professional liability, working for various prominent U.S. insurance companies in New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia before joining PHLY in 1996 as Vice President of Underwriting. After implementing many innovative operational and underwriting initiatives, he was promoted to Executive Vice President and COO in 1999 before becoming President and CEO three years later. Under his leadership, PHLY was recognized multiple times with 'Best Places to Work' awards and grew revenues from $460 million to over $2 billion, propelling its stock to a high of $61.50. In December of 2008, Mr. Maguire and his management team successfully completed the sale of the Company to its current parent, the Tokio Marine Group, one of the largest and most respected insurers in the world. He was subsequently named President and CEO of Tokio Marine North America, a position he held from 2011-2012. Today, PHLY remains among the top property and casualty insurers in the country, maintaining an "A++" A.M. Best rating - the highest in the insurance industry. For 15 consecutive years, PHLY has been named to Ward's Top 50 Insurance Companies list for its consistent, superior results.
Through The Jamie & Lisa Maguire Foundation, Mr. Maguire supports many organizations and causes including education, health & wellness, social justice and the environment. He serves/has served on the Boards of the Franklin Institute, American Red Cross SEPA Chapter, Breakthrough of Greater Philadelphia, Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences, Saint Joseph's University, Saint Joseph's University Academy of Risk Management and Insurance, Drexel University, and Gallaudet University School of Insurance and Risk Management. In addition, he gives his time as a mentor for students at the University of Notre Dame and Springside Chestnut Hill Academy. He was the recipient of the 2012 Saint Joseph's University Haub School of Business Hall of Fame, the 2010 Ernst & Young regional 'Entrepreneur of the Year,' and the 2008 Emerald Advisors' Entrepreneurial and Excellence Award. He participates in endurance races and Ironman triathlons for charity, including three appearances at the Hawaii Ironman Championships. In 2010, the Wall Street Journal listed him as one of the Top 25 Fittest CEOs of the Decade. Mr. Maguire and his wife Lisa reside in Fort Washington, PA with their four daughters. Mr. Maguire holds his B.S. in Finance from Saint Joseph's University and his MBA from the University of Notre Dame.
