Ronald McDonald House Charities
Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY) and its employees raised $412,127 for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) through its 50th anniversary PHLYCares campaign in 2012. As a leading provider of insurance coverage for non-profit organizations, the Company decided to celebrate its 50th anniversary milestone by embracing its history and culture of giving back.
PHLY set a goal for 2012 to raise $250,000 and contribute 500 volunteer hours to the charity. To reach its goal, employees from each of PHLY's 45 offices volunteered and raised money for their local RMHC Chapters throughout the year. 331 PHLY employees volunteered over 550 hours with their local Ronald McDonald House chapters throughout the year. Over 60 local Ronald McDonald House Chapters received funds from the PHLYCares campaign (for a full list of Chapters, go here).
According to RMHC, PHLY's fundraising efforts:
- Could give 1,471 families one night of rest and comfort at a Ronald McDonald House, just steps away from their child's bedside:
- Could provide a home-cooked meal to 5,000 families staying at Ronald McDonald Houses who need strength and sustenance after a long day at the hospital helping their child battle illness or injury, and
- Could pay for 3,571 children to receive flu vaccinations aboard a Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, a clinic on wheels that provides medical, dental and health education to children in our most vulnerable communities.
The mission of RMHC is to create, find, and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children. RMHC makes an immediate, positive impact on children's lives through its global network of Chapters in 52 countries and regions and through three core programs: Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile.
