College of Direct Support Preferred Status Program
Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY) is committed to the non-profit
industry and assisting in the development of Direct Support
Professionals. We believe firmly in The College of Direct Support’s
(CDS) mission to create a common knowledge base and culture
among Direct Support Professionals to help those with disabilities
lead full and self-directed lives in community-based settings.
The CDS provides internet-based curricula to enhance and develop a skilled
workforce throughout the United States. In an effort to assist, PHLY is pleased to offer
The College of Direct Support’s curriculum provides these benefits:
- Self-paced, interactive, and multimedia classes available anytime or anywhere,
24/7, 365 days a year.
- Each course is reviewed by six content experts who serve as editors and advisors.
- The College of Frontline Supervision and Management is a curriculum embedded
in the CDS to educate supervisors and those wanting to be supervisors.
- Four courses added to the CDS curriculum annually (at no additional cost).
- Training that is consistent across all states, agencies and individuals supported.
- Available to all individuals who are part of the consumer’s life, family, respite, the consumer and the direct care staff.
- Provides a validated and documented basis for “Pay for Performance” and earning a national credential through the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals.
