Philadelphia Insurance Companies is one of the largest insurers of social service organizations, schools, daycares and hotels in the country. As such, we are taking the proactive approach of informing our customers, in advance of any formal inquiries, that our insureds' wishing to help the displaced and disadvantaged persons as a result of Hurricane Rita have the appropriate insurance coverage for these situations.
Our General Liability policy will respond to their efforts to feed, clothe, and house any victims of Rita, as well as those associated with other similar natural disasters and emergency crises situations. They do not have to report any increase in exposure to us, nor will we make any premium charges for these situations.
The typical exposures normally associated with permanent residential facilities and shelters drastically increase due to the tremendous amount of transient dynamics involved. To help our insureds in their risk management efforts, we have created a loss control technical bulletin (temporary housing / shelter exposure inventory form) designed to raise their awareness of these increased exposures and assist them in understanding and controlling the critical exposures associated with these types of temporary occupancies.
